Treasure Adventure Game manages to capture the feeling of mystery and adventure that made 80s platform games so popular. The storyline is very detailed and players are given a large and unusual world to explore. While there are certain tasks and objectives throughout the game, players are also given freedom to go off script and simply have fun exploring as much as they want.

At the start of the game, players take on the role of a character who is travelling to find ancient artifacts with their father. Things quickly go wrong and the main objective is to solve the mystery to find out what happened and why.

One of the great things about the game is that it is not overly complicated. While the game world is quite detailed, the controls are very simple and easy to use. The soundtrack works well with the retro graphics and helps draw players into the game. There is a whole world of islands to explore and the day and night cycles complete with occasional torrential rain and other weather effects gives the game a great atmosphere.

Players are accompanied through certain stages of the game by different characters that they meet along the way. These characters often provide clues to the mystery behind the game and offer hints and tips. Players need to make sure that they play close attention to the information that is provided and remember it, because it often comes in useful later in the game. Puzzles are richly varied and it always feels like there is something new to discover and a new mission to embark on.

Although Treasure Adventure Game cannot hope to come with the detailed graphics and action of many modern games, it does have a certain retro charm. Older gamers will appreciate the reference to some of the games they grew up with, while younger games will have the chance to let their imaginations go to work.
